Roupala brasiliensis   Color: Heartwood is pink to reddish-orange-brown.   Tree: Typically tall and straight, up to 120 feet, and with diameters as large as 48''.   Wood Description: Also called Silky Oak. While the grain structure is straight, the wood exhibits lace-like figure produced from medullary rays that bisect the rings of annual growth. Machining characteristics are fair since the wood is only moderately hard and the texture is coarse.   Typical Uses: Furniture, gunstocks, decorative veneers, cabintry, interior woodwork.   Growth Region: South America
