Reviews for Tropical Walnut 4/4 Lumber Pack: 6 Boards, Choose Your Size

I tried this for a gallery frame, which I often make in native walnut. I didn't expect much, because I really like the streaks of color in the native stuff. This was maybe gonna be too uniform, maybe boring. Hah! Not boring! With a simple oil finish, the result was incredibly beautiful. What it lacks in "character", it makes up with amazing uniformity and depth of color. And it's so easy to work - every inch of lumber was usable, no defects. Imagine if dark chocolate were a building material, and it came in giant slabs (and didn't melt or break!). That's what this is like to work, and to look at. I only wish it was available in 8/4, for some of my other projects...

The grain pattern in this wood is easier to work with. The color is great with either oil or clear coatings. I wished I knew about this stuff earlier.

The walnut was very easy to work with, machined perfectly, nice deep dark grain, finished well.Will use again on more projects
