Wood was just as described. The pieces I got were beautiful and had solid grain pattern with no blemishes or checks.

The piece of wood met my expectations. I needed a longer piece than the standard of 12" I could find locally and was so glad to find just what I needed. Our rainy weather has not allowed the work to start yet but then again all of our shelter in place has kept us from the gathering to give the baton as a gift.

This is a great product. I was considering making legs for my table from 3/4" flat pieces by mitering two pieces to create 2x2 L Shape legs. - but I am glad I ordered these pre-cut 1-3/4 square instead. They are much stronger and easier to work with. I am really enjoying working with Purple heart. It is a very hard wood. But it's easy to work with. It cuts very cleanly, although I amy have to get a new blade after I am done with this project, as the wood burns / smokes when it is cut and leaves a black mark on both the wood and the saw. I was surprised how easy to use screws to fasten the pieces together, after drilling a pilot hole of course. I can hardly wait to finish my custom side table and share the picture.

I ordered several pieces of wood, including 2 or 3 purpleheart turning squares. One arrived all chewed up and split. (One piece of maple was split but I could work around it.) I immediately contacted the seller and they send me a replacement piece. The replacement piece was badly burnt and "diveted" on two sides. I wrote the seller, saying don't bother sending me a replacement, but that I was very disappointed. You would think that when they were trying to do it right, at least then they'd get it right. So, I'm still looking for a place I can rely on. Woodworkers Source is not that place.

Have not worked with purpleheart before, and I am just a beginning turner, but these squares were clean and true and very easy to work with. Sharp tools do make a difference with these squares. Made a couple dagger handles so far and the wood has turned and finished very easily.

The two pieces I received were straight and true and were exactly as described. Only minor issue I have is the color, I know how the color of purple heart can change, it was just that one side of each square was completely Brown .

The material is as beautiful as in the advertised picture. the wood quality was excellent. I found the wood workable for what I was doing. The only issue I had was the grain or, actually the wood between the grains. Porosity worked against the overall finish of the final product. Also some of the fine detail on the image we were engraving broke away, not totally the fault of the wood. Just needed to be a very fine image. I did use heat to enhance the purple effect, something I had read on line. The wood was used for letter openers. \nI previously used Rosewood from Brazil with nicer results.

This is a beautiful wood, I've used it for cutting boards and some small furniture. dont' worry about the slight dullness when cut or sanded it finishes real nice
