This “Paradise” box was a pattern cut on a CNC machine. This was a fun project to learn about using a CNC in various modes – ie. cutting out parts and decorating parts and choosing the correct bits to use. I also wanted to use two different woods for the project that would complement each other. Ash was used for the top, bottom, front and back. Granadillo was used for the sides. A mahogany stain was used on the ash to bring out the detail in the carvings. A clear finish of lacquer was applied to the entire box.
