Serving Tray
Jake wasn’t fancy — just a guy with a garage, a bandsaw, and way too many wood puns. One afternoon, he picked up a slab of walnut with a live edge so wavy it looked like it had opinions.
“This one’s got attitude,” he said, rubbing his chin like a philosopher. “Perfect for a serving tray.”
He cut it, sanded it, oiled it... and then realized it sat just a little crooked. Not unusable — just enough wobble to make your cheese slide politely toward the edge.
“Character,” Jake declared. “It’s got character.”
He added brass handles, declared it “gently dramatic,” and brought it to the local market. A couple picked it up, tipped it back and forth, and laughed.
“This thing’s alive,” the man said.
“Exactly,” Jake said. “It serves snacks and keeps guests alert.”
They bought it on the spot. It now lives in a house where wine and laughter are regular guests.
And Jake? He made another — still slightly wobbly. On purpose, of course.
