I had never had the opportunity to work with "Ipe" species of wood, the description of how easily this woodworks is right on!- I hope to find more uses for this very "Friendly" species, it cuts as well as pine, it doesn't dull my router bits, very nice to finish (I just oiled , shellac, grain filled and top coat with Polyurethane) , both or my boards were straight, flat and nice grain- Thanks WWS, to all the folks who keep "The Very Best Wood" shipping - I won't change my shopping online

Ordered some Ipe for a Longbow project. Received 2 boards 6' long by about 6". Asked for as straight a grain as possible. In other words perfect boards. lol One board was perfect looking, except for wormholes. No problem, I was able to work around them luckily. The other board has about a 2' width on one side that I can use for a bow. The rest of the board has runoff and a couple of knots that is not good for a bow. The rest of the board has beautiful grain and will make an awesome jewelry box for my niece. This wood is great to work with and sands down to glassy smooth. The perfect board does not exist but one can always hope. Woodworkers Source is a top notch outfit so go buy some Ipe from them people.

This was my first time with ipe...you definitely want to use ppe with this stuff. It works well and makes a very good longbow.

The product is exactly as advertised. Vendor used some thought in sorting and cutting for shipment and maximized the yield from the stick I bought from them.

The sizes were all very workable with lots of useable widths and lengths. I have purchased nearly 1,000 board feet of nearly 30 different species from Woodworkers source and I have NEVER been disappointed with even 1 board foot. Don't be worried Canadian woodworkers, these people know what they are doing with across-the-board shipping. I have received wood delivered to my doorstep cheaper than I can buy for in Regina (shipping included). Thanks Craig & Robert

I used a board of this to make a longbow. I asked for a piece of straight grain Ipe with no knots and that's exactly what I got. This is by far the most beautiful bow I've made. And it the best shooting one as well. I couldn't be happier.

Quick shipping, perfect lumber. 100% usable. I use this to make bows. Ipe is a superb bow wood, particularly when combined with bamboo backing. These guys really jump through hoops to provide me with the size specifications I need. Highly recommend them to everyone.

We have been pleased with the Ipe wood thus far into this project. It is truly a "hard wood" as he has gone through several sanding belts as he has shaped it how he needs it for our boat project!

What a cool wood. I was afraid of it at first, being so hard and dense. It's super heavy. But damn it's a pleasure to work. Rips and cross cuts beautifully and without trouble. So long as I'm using the proper blade. Turns *nearly* black when I finish it with an oil. Lacquer looks pretty good too.
