Oh how I missed you Baltic, it’s been too long!! I’m sure I’m not the only one that discovered this site while on a quest to find B.B. plywood because all the places local have been out of stock for quite some time and have no idea when they’ll get it back. If you’re lucky the wholesalers in your area aren’t a bunch of pretentious jerks, understand that independent semi professional woodworkers need quality plywood too and will have the decency to sell to you. I am not that lucky. That's how I ended up here. Overall I gotta say this is some nice B.B. and from what I can tell is totally legit. I deducted two stars, one for each issue I had (please note these are relatively minor and are more for woodworkerssource to hopefully take note of. They should in no way prevent you from buying this plywood). The first is my 20x30 sheets weren’t a full 20x30, they’re more like 19-13/16x29-13/16. I wouldn’t even have mentioned this if the 24x46 SuperCore sheets I ordered as well weren’t cut spot on. If they can cut SuperCore to full size they can cut the B.B. the same. The second issue is what others have written about which is the shipping protection. Now mine came with very minimal corner damage and is nothing more than what I expected and planned for. I think woodworkerssource should have an option for customers to pay $10, 15, 20 more for added corner/shippping protection. I’m willing to bet most customers would be happy to pay a little extra for this added protection. That’s all I got! Again, I’m a satisfied customer and I will be ordering again. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Happy woodworking!!

I never thought I'd spend $700 for three walnut boards but hey, that's the way things are today and convenience costs money.\r\nThe boards arrived promptly in a single box container; there were a few nicks and dents, one of them severe. I took photos but see not place to include them with this review.\r\nThe boards are appropriately sized with zero cracks or problematic knots. Overall I'm satisfied but the shipping damage and very ordinary grain patterns are disappointing for premium lumber.\r\nMy advice to WW Source is to double box your shipments; my advice to my fellow woodworkers is to use this resource for everyday projects but if you have a fine furniture build go do a hardwood supplier and hand pick your boards.

I purchased a 6 board pack of 4/4 and the boards were all nice and flat and about 6"-6 1/2" wide. Couldn't have asked for a better set of boards, very pleased.

Review for 1/4" Premium Walnut Ply on MDF Core Laser Cutter's Bulk Pack 12"x20"

Doesn't cut easily in the laser, the veneer also splinters and the glue holding the veneer is very weak. Definitely won't buy again. I use the Columbia Forest and it's much higher quality.

Will look good in my cutting boards.

Two pieces had nasty cracks that rendered them useless for cutting boards. Probably turning too, unless you were making a very skinny part.

Review for 3/4" Baltic Birch Pre-Cut Plywood Pack (Choose Your Size)

First, the plywood came with minimal damage, considering it's packaging I'm happy with it. However, the packaging is, to me, a bit shocking that is the standard. Six 20"×30" plywood stacked against each other with about 4" of shrink-wrap around them on one end. That's it...no corner protection at all, just a sliver of shrink-wrap and a basic cardboard box. The bottom of it slightly damp from sitting on my porch. I figured that wouldn't matter cause obviously it would be wrapped with something to prevent the plywood from getting wet. 90% exposed with only cardboard as protection. Why the entire plywood wasn't wrapped in shrink wrap I have no idea. So if I'm at work or somewhere it sits outside and it rains....there was no protection at all?? Again, thankfully it wasn't pouring out of the would have been ruined, add to that zero bumper protection with slight damage to the edges and I think I will avoid any future orders. That type of packaging is screaming to have problems in future orders.

Lots of chip dents, poor surfaced quality.

Severe bow, more than 1/2 inch, in the pieces I was given. The straight line rip took a chunk out of one of the pieces. Completely useless for actually making a table.

Due to cost and availability, there are lower grades of baltic birch out there. My local supply sells a lower grade with many voids and 'footballs' and charges the same as here. The only downside is inability to order a full sheet for obvious reasons.

Every single piece of wood I received had damage to the edges. I have pictures if you want them. I strongly suggest you use some kind of hard cardboard edging or Styrofoam inserts instead of cellophane wrapping.

Review for 3/4" (18mm) Lightweight Premcore Plus White Birch Plywood Full Size 4'x8'— Store Pickup

First, the edges were full of broken up pieces of wood and you couldn't touch them without getting a splinter. Second, there were so many voids in this plywood its basically not plywood. More like random pieces of plies glued together but not in any fasion that is stable or uniform. Third, 2 of the 4 boards were bowed when I received them. What am I suppose to do with bowed plywood? Honestly I am disappointed. I thought that buying from a local box store was bad as far as plywood products go. But this plywood was actually worse than box store plywood. I don't know where these other 5 star reviews are coming from, did they receive the same. I wish I had the same great experience as others buying from woodworkers source but I just havn't.

Received bowed boards

3 of the 4 in the pack were bowed. The boards were already a small size but receiving them bowed means they will have to be planed again and even less material is usable. This might be normal for larger boards but small boards means I just wasted money.

The boards arrived in perfect condition and perfectly flat. I couldn’t be happier!

If you are considering this item as a craftsmen or looking at it is a gift for a one do it! Now I need to "collect" all the different varieties!

This product was quite disappointing, especially given the price. Every piece had tear out along the edges and several pieces were dented. Some of the rips were done sloppily so the edges were not flat. I was able to cut it on my miter and table saws using a 80 tooth blade with zero tear out, so I don’t see why that couldn’t have been done by Woodworkers Source.

Everyone wants to know what it is!

Review for 3/4" Leopardwood PRE-CUT Pack, 4 Boards (Choose Your Size)

When finished, the surface looks three dimensional, even though it's flat. Truly unique stuff. Everyone wants to touch it and "feel" the grain... but after sanding, it's smooth! Tongue oil finish looks great. A bit "splintery" after cutting. Be careful.

Trust the hardness number

Review for 4/4 Purple Heart Lumber Pack - Select Count & Size

This is interesting wood. The smell is a bit off putting. A little like fresh cut oak, but more pungent. I would recommend air drying outside. It has a tendency to warp so be sure to stack it evenly. Working it is a tad difficult. Planing, nope, not with a hand plane. Sawing, use a table saw, save your hand saw blades. Scrolling, boost your speed to get a nice no burn cut, otherwise it’s smoking. I cut my knuckle on a cut edge not because of splinters but because it was such a fine edge cut. Sanding and polishing. Here is where all the hard work pays off. This polishes to a glass smooth finish with little effort. It will clog your sandpaper at first but is good after the first couple of grits. All in all I like it. It is interesting and is a nice contrast to other woods. Oh, use a dust mask because its allergic properties are pretty bad. Woodworker’s Source, you guys are the best. Cheers!

When the description says 5+ inches wide, it seems to mean 5-1/4 to 5-3/8, which meets the description. All the boards came with a good square edge on one side (which I suppose is why the "surface one edge" block is greyed out). One of the 72" boards had a slight twist, but in 8/4 lumber that can be worked out in my project, the other two were great.

Review for Granadillo 4/4 Lumber

I got some of this for another project, but that’s on hold so I took some scrap and cut it to 3/4” for a little scroll saw project. It’s a beautiful wood and looks nice in small stuff, but it’s awful hard on scroll saw blade. I worked with some cocoboloa years ago, and they say this granadillo is the same stuff. This seems harder and heavier but its been a long time so maybe I’m wrong.

More warped pieces than expected

I have bought Baltic Birch Plywood from Woodworkers Source and other vendors before. No matter where you get it there are always some issues with warping because it's so thin. However, this batch was especially problematic. The cost is reasonable but expect that not all pieces will be usable in your laser cutter. I used hold-down pins in my Glowforge but still had pieces that just wouldn't work.

Most boards were great, some less than I expected

I ordered these a few weeks ago and they arrived quickly and we’ll packaged. 4 boards were great, nice and flat and straight, even with few tool marks on the unsurfaced sides. 2 of the boards were not great. One was a bit more warped than I would have picked if I was at a lumber yard and it had about crack running through the edge to about 2” in. One other board was flat sawn and about 2’ was REALLY rough on on both sides it was supposed to be surfaced. \r\n\r\nOverall decent boards but was hoping for a bit better quality/board selection.

in both the colloquial and literal senses. Boards arrived in good condition and were actually nicer than I expected. Edges will need jointed and faces planed to final finish. It's cedar, so there are knots, but not too many and they are tight. I plan to make a cedar chest in which to store sweaters. and they should work very well.

The lumber was awesome, no knots or unusable boards which was a huge relief since I couldn't physically pick them out by hand. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because some boards had some bowing/crooked, but in fairness that is to be expected from any batch of rough cut lumber, rough is literally in the name. Will definitely buy from them again, and I highly recommend them.

The cherry was straight with no warps or bends and with beautiful grain. Can't wait to build something with it.

The sample that I received was very orange, but it will work ok for our projects. We used padauk before but it was more red and worked beautifully as an accent. We use small pieces of wood to inlay crosses, boxes and frames. We are not a business, it's a hobby and we use mostly reclaimed wood. We donate most of our work to our local hospital gift shop, which is a nonprofit.

Great product for drawer bottoms and plain door panels. Super quick shipping on each of my orders, just wish shipping was soooo expensive! 1/2" Baltic makes great drawer sides.

I was very impressed at the selection of board picked for my order. I have never ordered wood like this online before so I was a little hesitant. However the wood arrived relatively quickly (about a week) and as I mentioned the boards were clear of knots and contained a nice grain pattern. I will definitely be ordering from woodworkers source in the future.

Review for Red Grandis 4/4 Lumber

I normally order online, but was in Tucson and stopped in the store to see the exotics on sale. I fell in love with Sapele, but with my budget and beginner skill set I couldn't justify buying enough of it to make an entire large piece of furniture. \n\nThen across the aisle I saw the Red Grandis, and I remembered seeing someone who was making very nice furniture with this wood, stained to look like antique Mahogany. It's very consistent in color and grain pattern, with just enough visual interest to not take away from say, a figured door panel or drawer fronts. And it's about half the cost of Mahogany, Sapele, Walnut, etc. \n\nRegarding the board I just bought online, I requested 12 bd/ft of 4/4 and they took a 12 ft long, 12" wide, perfectly clear and cut it into 3 48" pieces. Couldn't have asked for anything better. \n\nI got more serious about woodworking at the start of Covid, and have bought something from WWS almost every month for the past year. I've never received anything less than great from them, and even though their prices are higher than my few local places I don't really have the urge to go elsewhere. Customer service and quality products are more important to me than a little bit of savings, especially in the long run. You get what you pay for!

Review for Granadillo 4/4 Lumber

For turned pieces, they come out looking like swirled milk chocolate marble, smooth and shiny, and that's even before sanding! Where to be especially careful is with routing. Whenever possible, go with the grain. Splinters from handling the rough boards can get easily infected. Pull them out and wash your hands as soon as possible. The resins in this wood can interfere with the curing of polyurethane, so an undercoating of shellac is recommended. I usually use shellac and then one of the so-called water-based polys, which are really acrylic. They're fine as long as you're sure it will never come in contact with alcohol. A top coat of real polyurethane works well with grandillo, using shellac and acrylic as undercoats. This wood is so heavy that it's impractical for furniture that would need to be moved. I made a butler tray table with granadillo and it was way too heavy. Screws inserted into the wood can be a problem. If the pilot hole is just a little too small, it will crack the wood, unlike other less dense hardwoods. The boards tend to come in smaller widths, so if wider boards are needed, you'll be doing a lot of joining. If planing these boards, take it slow with smaller increments between passes. For sanding on the lathe, your final sanding should be 400 grit (the wet-dry paper works very well dry). Don't fret over the any fine, residual, sanding marks as they disappear when applying shellac. I am currently using this for a colonial spinning wheel. It will be 50% heavier than it's identical spinning wheel done in walnut.

I was a little skeptical buying lumber online but I guess for the purpose of building a workbench and I don't really care so much about the figure on the wood, so why not give it a try. This first order is just to try it out and it was surprisingly good. The board came relatively flat (for 12 bf) and clear. The two faces looks like they were planed, not just rough sawn, not sure if they are all prepared the same say. I guess I'll find out. Will definitely get more as soon as the 8/4 are back in stock.

As the title indicates, this was the first time I have purchased milled lumber period, and first time purchasing lumber online. I was not sure what I expected when I placed my order. When it arrived I first felt overwhelmed trying to understand how to cut all my required pieces from the lumber supplied. It took many hours using graft paper drawing all individual pieces of lumber and figuring out how to cut all the pieces from the lumber. Then I took time to double check it twice. Yes, measure twice, cut once. It worked. I finally was able to cut all the required pieces properly. I am now in the process of gluing, trimming, and screwing. So far it looks great. I have sanded each piece ahead of assembling. I plan to finish it with Tongue Oil and Poly. Will send picture when completed. So far I am very happy with the progress.
