Uniquely beautiful with an elegant-yet-natural violet to mauve color. The wood is very fine grained which makes it fantastic with a simple clear finish. Harder and denser than most woods, but it'll reward you with unsurpassed beauty in your project.
These real wood veneer sheets are composed of premium sliced hardwoods that are spliced along the edges to make the full width; splicing is also done in a book matched pattern that's attractive and helps hide the splicing seam. The sheets use full-length slices so there are no splices to make the length. The 10 mil (10 thousandths) thickness paper backing allows the sheet to bend, flex, and work with curves and shapes without splitting. Apply paper back veneers with contact adhesive to make panels of large projects: conference tables, desks, doors, cabinet doors, coffee tables, etc.

What Does The Janka Hardness Rating Mean?
The Janka hardness test is the international standard for measuring the resistance of a sample of wood to denting and wear.
It's expressed in psi, or pounds-per-square-inch. The test measures the pressure required to embed an 11.28mm (.444 in) diameter steel ball into wood to half the ball's diameter. The measurement was developed to determine whether a species is suitable for use as flooring; however, we include it here and compare it to the rating of red oak to help you make a buying choice.
There is a difference between hardness and being difficult to work with. Generally speaking, the harder the wood the easier it is to finish and polish. Harder woods create good, solid long-lasting joinery in furniture.
The hardness of wood varies with the direction of the wood grain, and varies from piece to piece. So a Janka rating is an average of numerous tests performed on all directions and numerous pieces. Use the Janka hardness rating as guide, not a definitive answer.

The sheets I got were really nice. Bought three for a desk and matching cabinet and there was enough to make matching drawer fronts. This stuff is incredible once you get a finish on it. I used clear brush on poly and the red really came out nice. The picture you have doesn't do this wood justice.
