    How Do You Want It?
    Why Choose African Padauk?

This gorgeous and naturally colorful wood will blow your mind. Padauk elicits all the joys of woodworking between its color, and ease of routing, cutting, sanding and finishing. You'll want to use this one in your most decorative projects like keepsake boxes, musical instruments, fine furniture pieces. African padauk also makes an excellent wood for inlay if you just want to use a little bit. Contrasts well with pale woods like maple and ash, but also darker woods like wenge, walnut, and ebony.

Get your hands on a wood you've never tried before! It's simple. Samples are milled on all sides to the standard size of 1/2'' X 3'' X 6'', as determined by The International Wood Collectors Society, and include the shipping cost within the 48 U.S. Each one is labeled with the botanical and common names. Use these to test finishes and stains, to compare color and grain characteristics, etc.

    The wood was great!

But it absolutely defies all logic as to why they feel the need to put a gooey f#*&&@*g sticker on ever single piece. Seriously! I know what I ordered and where I ordered it from. I don't need a label that takes an hour out of my day to dick around with to remove it. Just stop it!

The sample that I received was very orange, but it will work ok for our projects. We used padauk before but it was more red and worked beautifully as an accent. We use small pieces of wood to inlay crosses, boxes and frames. We are not a business, it's a hobby and we use mostly reclaimed wood. We donate most of our work to our local hospital gift shop, which is a nonprofit.

    West Point Class Ring Box

I used this wood to make a ring box for my west point class ring. I was a little apprehensive about using sample wood, but it was actually very high quality wood with great character. I couldn't be happier with the result.

    Good for furniture

Nice grain, good muted shades of red throughout. While grain is more muted than say bubinga, it is still very handsome.
