Poplar 8/4
I had to recreate a threshold for 1940s home. Some sparse water exposure. Shaped a piece of 8/4 poplar. It was a beautiful piece of wood that ended up painting (deck and floor paint) for some protection against door traffic.\nHated to paint it it was that beautiful of a piece of lumber.

Disappointed in the product. Some boards had stress cracks from improper drying while others still contained bark and are not full 8/4 stock.\n\nI had previously purchased 3/4 inch stock and was extremely pleased with the product and expected the same quality with the 8/4.

First timer-Great, as far I as can tell
I made an entry door with this poplar, and it was super dry and stable (so far). Arrived in great shape and milled up well. Time will tell the rest.
