Nice dry hunk of Hickory. My bit was a mix of heartwood and lighter sapwood. Worked great for the axe handles I made. Satisfied customer.

Ordered 2 - 8/4 pieces of hickory. Both split down the middle. One piece the split has rendered half the board unusable for the project. The entire idea of order 8/4 is that you need thicker wood. By the time i plane down, it will be a 4/4. Each piece was $50 each. I would cost me that much to ship them back. Not worth the hassle.

I mentioned in my comments that I was hoping to make an entry door. I should have put it in the special sizing section because I received wood with the longest length of 6 ft. (makes for a rather short entry door) The wood was gorgeous, but I'm left with $218 worth of Hickory that I'm unable to use until I locate some longer planks.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I opened these packs of lumber!! 8/4 hickory, with hardly any defects to work around. Wonderful grain. and well seasoned. Would easily recommend this to anyone. I have always bought lumber in person from lumber warehouse, selecting my own boards, so I was a little hesitant. Not anymore.

I needed a board to finish a project. (I was overly optimistic about gluing up 4/4 stock and my local sources couldn't get me 8/4.) Fast shipping and great packaging. Both 7.5 x 98 faces were wonderfully clear with a perfect 50/50 mix of heartwood/sapwood. Nicely planed to 1-27/32" to 1-5/8". Measured at 8% moisture content so it was ready to mill right away. This is a board that I'd feel lucky finding myself in the pile. I really couldn't be happier.
