Definitely Hard
You might notice I rated this at five stars because it is extremely hard wood. I had bought it just to try making some knife handles out of it. Too hard actually for my purpose. I managed to make a very beautiful handle but had to use a 4.5 inch flapper disc on a side grinder to shape the handle. Wow, hard but beautiful.

This wood was so hard that it was almost impossible to work with. My joiner/planner couldn't't handle it. Neither could my table saw or my. Sander. I only used one out of the four pieces I received before giving up. I have high quality equipment but it didn't help. I'm sure some people could handle it, but not me.
