I have ordered Ipe on several occasions and the quality has, in general been excellent. This wood is very heavy and dense but if you use carbide tools you won't have a problem. Wear a dusk mask and a hat. The yellow dust will do strange things to your hair. It finishes beautifully with outdoor oil. The grain will rise occasionally from moisture and humidity, but a light sanding and re-oiling takes care of it. I built two chaise lounges with it and they will probably still be around when I'm gone.

Very nice order!
The wood that I recieved was very nice ipe. The boards were straight and I had one side straight line cut, which was right on.I thought that the wood was of excellent quality and cannot wait to actually get started on my project. \n I am very happy with this company, seemed very professional with a little humor added. I will be making a fairly large order with them for my kitchen cabinets, and am very excited to see what I will recieve.

IPE - The new Teak!
Great wood! I built a barbeque cart from it about three years ago. It is still as strong as the day I finished it. Still looks great and has taken the weather in stride. I leave it out all four seasons through the winter in the northeast, The snow and ice doesn't bother it and not one screw has backed out or lost its' grip. I don't have a boat anymore, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it for making trim parts for an ocean-going vessel. I am sure it would hold up very well.
