Create beautiful projects and get better at woodworking! Periodically we bring you free, short hands-on demos on a variety of woodworking topics and techniques; things to help you gain some knowledge.
Demos are held three weekends of every month, Friday evenings and Saturday during the day. They last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The same material is covered on Friday and Saturday, so simply choose the window of time that works best for you. Demos are free to attend, hands-on, and flexible enough for your questions.
Start Times:
- Fridays 5:30 pm

Making Picture Frames and Learning Joinery
Presented by Joe Tripodi.
A typical project for woodworkers is to make a picture frame. It seems easy enough, usually four corners are all that is needed. However, the frame may have to be made to fit a certain size glass, or a certain size picture. It may be designed to hang on a wall or stand on a shelf.
This demo will focus on techniques for sizing frames and joinery methods, including measuring and layout, and router techniques for some of the joinery. We'll present some novel ideas for making frames to fit different décors or to add a new way of looking at how to build a project. A variety of frame joinery techniques will be presented including mitered corners, splined miters, biscuit joints, mortise and tenon, loose tenons, cabinet door joinery, and sliding dovetail joinery in picture frames.
The demo is free, informal and designed to work around your questions. We now offer the demos on Friday evenings in addition to Saturday during business hours. The demo lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.
