Sushi Trays

We needed something a little nicer for sushi night.

Because . . . sushi night.

So I decided to make these trays out of shedua to demonstrate a different kind of wood that I really dig the finished results. There's not much to compare this wood to; it's sort of elegant like rosewood, hard like maple, and enjoyable to work with like walnut.

Couldn't decide if I liked contrasting it with something darker or lighter, so I did one of each!

The handles are just shaped to life with a little bit of tablesaw work, hand planing and random orbit sanding.

Check out the video we made about the build process right here.
