Mirror with compartments

Made for our young grandson. Small mirror (12" x 12") framed with four small compartments. Little places for him to store his little treasures.

Simple butt joint construction using thin dowels, hidden with plugs I made of the same oak.

The doorknobs are black walnut cubes, also attached with thin dowels (bamboo skewers).

Used the router to recess the mirror before attaching the back.

1/8" panel was used for the back.

Finished with brushed lacquer but honestly hated working with it. I found it hard to get a good finish because it dried too quickly.
