Console Table

Debbie found the slab on a rainy morning at the lumber yard—walnut, live edge, with a knot that looked like a crescent moon. Most people would’ve passed it over, but she saw something else: a console table that told a story.

Back in her garage workshop, she spent hours coaxing the shape to life. She kept the live edge raw and honest, sanded the surface until it glowed, and chose hairpin legs in matte black—just enough to lift the piece without stealing its voice.

Every mark in the wood, every curve, every imperfection—Debbie left it all. Not as flaws, but as character. When the table was finished, it stood lean and elegant, like something both wild and refined.

She placed it in her entryway, where keys would gather and guests would pause. It wasn’t just a table. It was a welcome.
