Lazy Susan

Laura Root was a local woodworker known for her simple yet beautiful creations. One of her favorite projects was a lazy Susan, made from a smooth, polished piece of oak. It wasn’t too large or too small, just the perfect size for a family dinner table. Laura had spent days carefully sanding the wood, smoothing every curve, and adding a light coat of finish that brought out the natural grain.

When she placed it on her own dining table, it felt like something was complete. The lazy Susan turned effortlessly, its smooth rotation making it easy for everyone at the table to reach the dishes without having to pass anything around. It was practical, but there was something comforting about the way it spun—almost as if it made meals feel more connected.

One evening, Laura invited a few friends over for dinner. As they sat down, they couldn’t help but admire the lazy Susan. With a few bowls of soup, fresh bread, and a salad, they began to pass the food around. The conversation flowed just as easily, and everyone was able to share, reaching for what they wanted without the usual shuffle of dishes.

As the evening wore on, Laura realized that it wasn’t just the lazy Susan that made the meal special—it was the way it brought everyone together, making it easier to share not only food but moments, laughter, and stories. And just like that, Laura’s simple creation had found its place in the heart of every gathering.
