Danish Modern Chairs

These chairs provide a nice addition to a home with a mid-century modern feel. The cost of purchasing two of these chairs outright could range from as low as $400 (lesser quality materials) to upwards of $2,200. This set cost us about $600 in materials and even some tools that we did not already have on hand. Based on the type of materials and techniques we used, we estimate a savings of about $1,400 by tackling this project ourselves. That being said, although the accompanying project plans lead you to believe that this can be accomplished even with limited tools, we highly recommend having some decent carpentry tools on hand. With the exception of an old Sears Craftsman table saw, the rest of it was done with hand tools, resulting in a much higher degree of difficulty and some inconsistencies between the two chairs. But that's what "hand made" is all about. As our first ever woodworking project resulting in home furnishings, we felt it turned out pretty good!
