New Grandchild’s Bedroom Dresser

I recently welcomed a new grandson into our family and was asked by his Mom and Dad to build him a bedroom dresser that will serve him throughout his toddler and teenage years. I planned the build from scratch using pictures I pulled off of Google images and then built a graph plan which worked very well. It’s very humbling and rewarding to have the time to build your grand children something that should last the rest of their lives. I used knotty alder which presented some challenges but I enjoyed the opportunity. To make the table top, I used biscuits. I also used Prefinished Baltic Birch for the drawers which made the furnature very professional looking. I was also able to use my new Jet bandsaw to make panels for the sides which turned out exceptionally well. Beginning to end, working part time, the project took six weeks.

Finish: Watco danish oil, dark walnut, (cured 3 week), then 3 coats of MinWax wipe on poly
