Sapele Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table

A gift for my daughter and an excuse to build tapered legs. I made a jig to create tapered legs out of sapele on my table saw (pictured above). It worked beautifully! I also wanted a slight bevel on the table, which was challenge because I wanted an angle different than any router bits. I ended up using my oscillating edge belt sander and carefully holding it to get the desired angle. Old Masters tung oil varnish is highly recommended for sapele! Just remember to wipe it off in a couple minutes; multiple thin coats produces a beautiful, smooth finish.

Finish: Old Masters Tung Oil Varnish
