Floating Shelf

I cut a 1 x 6 piece of Redwood into .5 x 6 pieces using my bandsaw. I used the Redwood for the frame of the shelf because the wood is very light weight,

I made the floating apparatus using a piece of the Redwood and 5/8-inch dowel. I drilled holes in the Redwood and glued the dowel into the holes. I drilled matching holes into the shelf frame. I attached the Redwood piece with dowel to the wall.

The face of the shelf frame is covered with Cholla Cactus pieces. The top and bottom of the frame is covered with 1/4-inch thick Knotty Pine.
