Mail Box
Cody built the mailbox on a rainy Saturday, the kind of slow day that begged for a simple project. The old one had leaned for years—bent, rusted, barely holding on. He figured it was time for something better.
He chose oak for the post, solid and dependable, and a brushed metal box with clean lines. But it was the little things he cared about: the beveled edges, the hand-rubbed finish, the small wooden flag he carved and painted red, just because it felt right.
By dusk, the rain had stopped. Cody stepped back and looked at his work—not flashy, not fancy, but sturdy and full of pride. The next morning, the mail carrier left a note inside: “Nice box.”
Cody grinned. Sometimes, it’s the small things that say the most.
