Patio Table
Cody built the patio table in early spring, when the mornings were still crisp and the light stretched a little longer each evening. He’d found the cedar planks stacked behind his father’s old shed—weathered, yes, but straight and strong. The kind of wood that earned its place in the sun.
He worked with quiet focus, sanding each board smooth, brushing off years of dust but keeping the knots and scars. He joined the pieces with care, added crossbeams for strength, and sealed it to breathe outdoors. No frills, no shortcuts—just honest work and a steady hand.
By the time summer rolled in, the table stood at the heart of the patio, catching golden light and the clink of glasses. Friends gathered, kids spilled lemonade, and laughter settled into the grain.
Cody sat back one evening, beer in hand, and thought: this is what I built it for.
