Knife Block
Douglas Henson was known for making everyday items a little more exciting, and his latest project was no different. He decided to make a knife block, but not just any knife block. He wanted one that was a bit quirky, a little fun, and most of all—functional.
After some thought, he settled on a design that would make people smile every time they reached for a knife. He shaped the block like a tree stump, complete with tiny carved branches sticking out, each holding a knife in place like a little forest of blades. The knives nestled comfortably into their spots, and the whole thing was made from smooth oak, with just a touch of stain to bring out the natural grain.
When Douglas finished the knife block, he proudly placed it on his kitchen counter. At the next dinner party, his friends couldn’t stop talking about it.
“Is this a tree stump? For knives?” one friend asked, laughing.
“Yes!” Douglas grinned. “It’s a tree stump knife block. Works great and looks cool.”
Guests took turns admiring the block and sliding knives into their wooden “branches.” It wasn’t just a place to store knives—it was a conversation piece, a quirky piece of art that brought a bit of fun to the kitchen.
From then on, every meal at Douglas’s house began with a little moment of joy as everyone reached for their favorite knife from the tree stump block. It was a simple piece of functional art that added a lot of personality to his kitchen.
