Charcuterie with Dip and Bowls
Jack Knudson was a quiet craftsman who loved working with wood in his small backyard shop. One sunny afternoon, he decided to make something special—a cutting board that could also serve as a snack tray. He had an idea to add spots for dip cups and small bowls, so everything could be served in one place.
He chose a sturdy piece of walnut and carefully shaped it, smoothing the surface until it felt like satin. Then he carved round spaces into the board, just the right size for little bowls. He tested them one by one, making sure they fit snugly but were easy to lift out.
When it was finished, Jack gave the cutting board to his niece, Emma, who loved to host movie nights. She filled the bowls with guacamole, salsa, and nuts, and placed crackers and veggies all around. Her friends were amazed. “Where did you get this?” one of them asked.
“My uncle Jack made it,” she said with a proud smile.
That board became a favorite at every gathering. It wasn’t just a cutting board—it was a clever, beautiful piece that brought people together. And every time Emma used it, she thought of Jack, and the care he put into making something both useful and full of heart.
