Floating Beehive Wall Unit

This project involved creating and installing a floating wall unit comprising nine hexagonal shapes and five shelves made from 4/4 roasted poplar. The hexagons sides are 10.5 inches long, making them stand about 18" high. The shelves vary in length from roughly 3 feet to 9 feet. Both the hexagons and the shelves are 8 inches deep. The hexagons were attached to the wall using two trim screws into wall studs. The screws were angled through the top and bottom sides like pocket screws. The shelves were laminated from two 4/4 boards and were attached to the wall using Sheppard Brackets. The shelves and the hexagons are only in physical contact with each other. No fasteners were used.
