White Oak Kitchen Counter Top

The waterfall side makes this project more about the installation than the build.

That said, the fellas down at the shop created the main glue-up. But I brought my daughters down to the shop on the weekend to send this thing through the sander to flatten and prep to 120 grit on both sides. The 11' long panel was crazy heavy, but they got to experience the work and thrill of making a big counter top out of solid American hardwood.

I brought the beast home, and planned the miter cut.

  1. Dry fit the whole monster
  2. Mark the cut
  3. Ensure the resulting panels are extra long to finesse into place
  4. Cut the miter
  5. Dry fit the horizonal counter
  6. Flip the waterfall, mark the cut
  7. Take a break
  8. Double check the cut
  9. Sleep on it
  10. Wait a bit
  11. Check the cut
  12. Make the cut

Boom! You're done.

Finish: Odies Oil wood butter
