Redwood coffee table
Bought a stump at the same time as the large slab. Been sitting in three different shops in 3 different counties for the last 58 or longer years?
I just kinda smoothed the top and removed the edges that were in a fire before it was cut down and the stump was pulled up and thrown in to a river and ended up on the banks of the ocean. I left most of the weather cracks open. There was a few guys who made a living out of that free wood.. This guy I bought a bunch of slabs from invested in a very large winch truck and almost every day he would drive a few miles each way from the river that entered the ocean just waiting for that free stuff. He said the big winch and lots of land to store all that wood didn't cost that much back then. This was how the land was cleared and done away with and the smart ones got all this great wood free....
He said his biggest customer was Japan for they wanted all he would send.
This was in California and I just bet it is against the law to even think about floating anything down the river now unless they charge a few different taxes and a delivery charge and another charge to remove things out of the OCEAN.
This is how they cleared different pieces of land so they could set out sprouts of the same redwood I guess, don't really know what they done with the land. It might be full of houses now?
The one picture is under the led lights.
Finish: clear 2X
