Display Unit

I was looking for inspiration for a display shelf unit that had a mid-century modern look and found something similar to this design. I liked the combination of straight lines with simple curves and the shelves look as if they're just floating between the uprights. Used Ribbon Grain Sapele from Woodworkers Source and as usual the wood was beautiful. You can really see the beauty of the grain in the picture of the five shelves after their 3 coats of Osmo #3043 was applied. All mortise and tenon joinery, combination of machine and hand work to refine and fit. The curves in the shelf supports and back pieces were bandsawn first and then I used a template and pattern routing to make them all exactly the same.

Over-all size is about 36" wide by 12 1/2" deep and 82" tall. I combined a bit of 1/4" copper to create the space between the shelf and the back piece.

Finish: Osmo Polyx 3043
