Quilted Maple Candy Dish

Western Big Leaf Maple Candy Dish. I've had this piece of wood for years but was always afraid of destroying it on the lathe. Its grain pattern gives it a very strong propensity for tearing out and I knew that I could only sand lightly and still maintain a flat surface. I had to wait for my skills with a bowl gouge to improve. I chose teak oil for its very gentle darkening effect.
