Custom Banana Hanger

This was a store bought banana hanger that came with a laughable 5" round base. It really didn't work at all. Not only did it consistently fall over but it was also made of some form of, well, something not quite what I'd consider to be "wood."

So I removed the chrome hardware piece and made a different base for it out of the desperate need to establish some self respect.

Anyway, I had a gorgeous piece of figured or curly white oak and chose to knock this out one Saturday afternoon.

I made a quick hexagon, shaped it smooth, and gave it a few coats of oil - and she's gorgeous.
