Table Top

I'm making a table top out Brazilian Cherry. The table top required almost 40 board feet to complete. I was concerned how it would look since it would be made up of many individual pieces. It required a lot of sanding with a number of coats of high gloss Tung Oil. The colors and grain exceeded my expectations; this wood is very beautiful when finished.
Jatoba review by a moderately advanced worker

This was my first online experience in buying wood, so my expectations could well have been too high. It's also my first use of Jatoba which is a dense but easily worked wood with beautiful color and character. All pieces I received were 6 ft long and packaged very well (bubble-wrapped and well bundled). Widths varied from 4 1/2 to 10 1/2 wide. I ordered no edge joining so both edge joined and planed the pieces. One or two boards were wany, but able to be used as shorter pieces. There were a few insect defects, most of which could be used for 'character'. There were a few flat sections too rough to use, but again could be worked around. The package was sold as 20 bd ft, but actual measure of the rough boards was 22 - 23 bd ft, so allowance was made for the rough parts. Overall I was quite pleased with both the character and workability of Jatoba and the delivery and quality from Woodworkers Source. I would order from them again.
