Reviews for Roasted Red Oak 4/4 Lumber

Roasted oak looks very good and is a good alternative for other dark species. It seems to lose some weight in the roasting process and feels a little stiffer. I have not started but I am going to use it for 3 table tops.

This wood is great because of the color. The alternative to other "dark" woods at a reasonable (great) price. I do turning and segmented turning, and although the color is great it is not good for the lathe. even with the sharpest tools it "fuzzes and tears" badly. Much of the "life" has been cooked out. It will be great for trim and "flat" work. I think it is great for the right use.
