Great Finish, fragile grain!
I’ve used this to make gorgeous picture frames, an application of OSMO oil makes it look great. However, grain crumbles if you attempt dovetails which is probably due to the brittleness caused during the roasting process.
Familiarity: I've used it in several projects

Awesome
My first view of roasted red oak (who knew it existed).
The selection of boards are great, flawless and usable with minimum milling.
I am looking forward into using the wood in my first project.
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice

Beautiful wood, came extremely well wrapped
Bought roasted red oak, roasted walnut and hard maple. Beautiful wood, came extremely well wrapped. Several minor defects such as a knot that completely fell out leaving a whole, a crack, and several holes appearing as distressed wood. Overall, should be enough for my multiple cutting board project.

roasted oak looks very good
Roasted oak looks very good and is a good alternative for other dark species. It seems to lose some weight in the roasting process and feels a little stiffer. I have not started but I am going to use it for 3 table tops.

Roasted Red Oak
This wood is great because of the color. The alternative to other "dark" woods at a reasonable (great) price.
I do turning and segmented turning, and although the color is great it is not good for the lathe. even with the sharpest tools it "fuzzes and tears" badly. Much of the "life" has been cooked out. It will be great for trim and "flat" work.
I think it is great for the right use.
