Reviews for Beech (European) 4/4 Lumber

I searched far and wide for European beech to build a tool tray for my Ulmia wood working bench from Germany, I could have used some other wood but this bench will be used some day by my grand children. Your store had just what I needed and provided the best service. I'm very grateful.

Got some really nice wide boards of Beech.

Most WWS 4/4 lumber comes already milled S2S, 13/16" thick. I prefer to do my own milling, and unless the board happens to have experienced zero movement, I have a hard time netting 3/4" milled stock. For some reason the beech came thicknessed to 15/16", which is the next best thing to getting it rough.

So this was my first purchase from Woodworkers Source and I am very pleased. It's exactly what I wanted. The fine detail in ordering requirements is a very nice touch, even if you don't need such specific pieces, it's nice to know they can cater to that kind of a need. I needed some clear Beech in size 4/4 for my workbench project. The order I received was exactly what I needed to match my workbench and complete my project.

This was a perfectly acceptable order with a normal amount of waste from a few knots. There were also some planer skips but nothing that prevented truing to 3/4. Most of the wood finished at 7/8.

Could not have picked better lumber myself from a lumberyard. Every board was straight and flawless. Shipping was also very fast.

I have received European Beech from WWS before, this order of 4 pcs. 8" x 96" was "TOP of the Line" ,I have planed to make a head and foot board for my mother (Combining other species, Bloodwood, Canarywood- just to name a couple)- The Beech is straight as an arrow (I appreciate the "Tips for storing wood" as well)- w/ the recent seasonal change my RA will slow me down (But not to a halt)- Wood is my Passion, Created for us few to enhance the natural beauty into something functional- MANY THANKS for not having to be concerned - You Folks ROCK!!

Great lumber to work with and to finish. Excellent bending quality, although its label did not state "European " but just Beech.

Received the lumber that I ordered. It came in large enough for the project I have. This is a quality piece of Beech. The only problem I have is where to take the piece that I need for the project-The entire length looks great!

If you need wood for cutting boards, butcher blocks and other one of a kinds projects, don't buy it anywhere else but here

I got the box and after opening it I was nervous that it was not enough lumber for my project. I never ordered wood before and used the board feet calculator to determine how much to buy. I added enough to the order to yield one extra piece. Well after cutting and milling the 4 boards I received, it yielded EXACTELY the amount I had hoped for including the one extra board. I was surprised, but, good job folks, you did well for me! Thank you!

I needed European Beech to replace the bridge on a 1784 Broadwood square piano, and woodworkers had just the material, right color and grain orientation, no defects, and wide enough to accomodate the curve. I would return to these guys any day!

Met or exceeded my expectations. I wasn't sure how buying wood "blind" would work out but I was very pleased. Great service and communication from time of order to delivery. Next time I will add a jointed edge option because my jointer is a little too short for 8' lengths.

I love working with beech. I've had some of my clients say it's too bland when they see the pictures, but when I show them a real finished furniture piece they change their minds. I usually include a high contrast wood with it, mahogany is nice or ebonized poplar really looks great.

Made a sideboard and coffee table out of beech last year. I was really happy with the way it worked and finished. Inexpensive too.

I've used beech wood on three funriture projects so far. Definitely like working with it because it's dense yet pretty lightweight. Routes good, planes good all that. don't even bother staining it, a clear finish is all it needs. I've gotten some beautiful boards from here before.
