The most desired of all varieties of mahogany - this is genuine Swietenia macrophylla from Central America. Superb, rich color and enjoyable working properties. Mahogany is a joy to turn, carve, rout, and finish. These squares in particular measure a full 2''x2'' and an impressive 30'' long. They are still rough sawn, but cut from kiln dried material and the ends are sealed. Limited supply.

What's the wood like?
Ranks among the finest cabinet woods. Exceptionally stable and clear with a natural luster. Moderately coarse texture. Requires filling to achieve a class smooth surface but accepts virtually all finishes with ease. Widely praised for its response to hand tools, power tools, and all woodworking procedures.

Yellowish brown to reddish or orange brown.

The squares were straight, clear and exactly as promised. I needed 29.5 inch legs for my project. I cut 1/4 inch of each end and they were ready to go.

Thanks for the follow up. I did receive the materials and they look nice. Unfortunately, since the ends of the turning squares weren't sealed, one of the squares had a split on one end that runs in about 6". No big deal, that blank will have to become a few pepper mills or, a bunch of bottle stoppers. The wood looks nice, with some interesting grain detail. Looking forward to turning it.
