This highly resilient wood has an interlocked, coarse grain that shows interesting figure and pattern throughout the wood. Red cumaru is dark and hard.
Fantastic uses for this material include table legs, tool handles, pen blanks, drawer pulls, inlay, picture frames, decorative accessories. These squares in particular measure a full 1.5''x1.5'' square and 22'' long. They are smooth on all sides, and cut from kiln dried material.

What's the wood like?
A strong, tough, resilient wood that fits the bill for a dark or medium dark project. Good resistance to insect attack and weather. Cumaru is extraordinarily stable and also provides a moderate blunting effect on cutters and blades. Accepts varnish satisfactorily, and will make some very robust furniture.
How's the color?
Tan-like yellow to medium brown with a slight orange-red cast that darkens with age.

I have made a couple of cutting boards that include this Cumaru. The last one was combined with birds eye maple, it turned out gorgeous. For what I have been doing it is easy to work with and I love the finished look.
