Use this calculator to help you estimate how much board footage you'd like to buy. Remember, if you're calculating based on a required finished size you'll also need to estimate some extra so you have enough to work with to achieve your desired size.
Showing off a consistent color that's much like Mahogany, this ribbon stripe Sapele comes with a much lower price.
The ribbon stripe figure comes from quarter sawing the log - the interlocked grain of Sapele produces the length wise stripes, or ribbons. (See this picture in our Project Gallery) An added benefit to quarter sawn lumber is the utmost stability.
Sizes you can expect:
13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S)
4''-10'' with the edges still rough. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (available above with your order).
Lengths Up to 8'. Longer lengths may be available for local pick up or truck freight shipment. Contact us to verify.
You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
We can hand-select material that will yield what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection Request" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
We can do some limited custom milling such as planing to a different thickness and straight-line ripping one edge. Please call or email to talk about your needs.

Bought 30 BF of Sapale, 1.1.2014
Reviewer: NSC (Greeley, CO)
As others, I was a bit hesitant to order online. But after reading the reviews, I can honestly say the Woodworkers Source delivered what they say. The boards selected were very nice. I had one board that had a crack in one end, and ran for about six inches. I figured it was due to adjusting from AZ to CO, and was not an issue, I just ripped the board down the middle where the crack was and made two usable boards. I am very happy with my purchase. I am making an entertainment/TV Stand, and this is my first big scale project, as it turns out I am going to be short about 10 BF for the top of my project, and am ordering more. I also love the finishing videos you can watch here to show what you can turn your project into a piece of artwork. Thanks Woodworkers Source, I am a customer for life, please don't ever diminish your customer service or the way you do business.
Heres the deal..., 12.4.2013

So I get in a bit of a hurry once in a while...OK a lot of the time. Well with this stuff it's like a free lunch...You can't screw it up. It's more forgiving then Mother Teresa. I'm laminating thin strips together with some other exotics for one-of-a-kind 5-7 foot landing net handles and even with the gig I built for the bow the glue stage to integrate the handle into the bow can sometimes have "The Need For Speed". Glue is everywhere and the Sapele Ribbon Stripe not only hold fast in the glue joints where it's clamped but it also cleans up like a breeze where ever I get overrun. Did I mention the glue gets everywhere? Oh, and by the way, My girlfriend has a wonderful way to get wood glue out of your hair...Should the need ever arise..
Seriously though, when this stuffs on sale GRAB IT. I got the "10" and wider" special and WOW can you ever make some things that require wide stock that called for the biscuit cutter before. I don't know about you but those joints always looked so fake to me.

I recently purchased 300 bf of ribbon stripe sapele. The wood was exceptionally well packaged and there was no damage in shipment. I am very pleased with the selection of lumber in this shipment. The 107 good-looking wood pickers did an outstanding job of selection. I will definitely purchase wood from Woodworkers Source again.
