[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.
Ground Shipping is included anywhere in the 48 U.S.! (What does that mean?)
- Quantity: Project Packs contain 20 board feet (or slightly more), which tends to be approximately 4 to 7 boards depending on the size
- Thickness: 13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S)
- Widths: 4''-10'' variety with rough edges. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (see above).
- Lengths: 4'-8', and each pack contains an assortment
- Grade: Select & Better. See our page about Hardwood Grading for some details about common lumber grades and their definitions.

Ordering lumber sight unseen means you have to put a lot of trust in the supplier. Woodworkers Source has earned that from me. The lumber I ordered came in very usable random widths that will help minimize the waste, indicating to me that these guys think like woodworkers. The fleck of the quarter sawn oak looked very much like the photos on their web site. It was very apparent to me that they put a lot of thought into picking out the nicest lumber for my order. My other big concern with buying lumber this way was how well they would package it for shipping. I didn't want a bunch of lumber that was all dinged up and split when it got here. Again, they went over the top and really packaged it up super well. Lastly, these guys are great at communication and quick to ship. My experience with Woodworkers Source has been very positive, and I will be buying more lumber from them in the future.

I ordered 20 BF of Quarter sawn White oak, which turned out to be 5 boards 8 feet log and random width. Unfortuneately 2 of the boards were unsatisfacory, very little flecking. At this point Woodworkers Source is trying hard to rectify the issue. I'll let you kmow when I get my replacement boards.

Some of the boards have a lovely pattern in the grain that reminds me of curly maple or tiger stripes. I'm very pleased with your selection.

I was really unsure about buying this wood without being able to pick it out, but the price was good and I ordered 10 boardfeet. I was nervous opening up the package when it arrived, but I got some beautiful boards that I don't think I could have picked better myself. The coupons you included will come in handy!
