[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.
Ground Shipping is included anywhere in the 48 U.S.! (What does that mean?)
- Quantity: Project Packs contain 20 board feet (or slightly more), which tends to be approximately 4 to 7 boards depending on the size
- Thickness: 13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S)
- Widths: 4''-10'' variety with rough edges. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (see above).
- Lengths: 4'-8', and each pack contains an assortment
- Grade: Select & Better. See our page about Hardwood Grading for some details about common lumber grades and their definitions.

    Excellent Hickory, 11.6.2011

The boards I received were excellent - good grain patterns and color variation, which are two important factors when it comes to hickory.
The only issue was some damage inflicted by the shipping company. The very good wrapping had two gouges that almost looked like fork-lift stabs. This is obviously not the fault of Woodworkers Source.
Have already recommended Wood Workers Source to a friend and will definitely order again!

    Perfect For My Project, 11.1.2011

Because its hard, heavy and incredibly tough, I chose Hickory for my shop workbench, everything but the top. The 20 bf project pack I received had 98% usable lumber - no warps, no twists, no cupping, knots were small and tight and only minor checking on the ends which is to be expected. And by a stroke of luck, the widths and lengths I received worked out perfectly. Highly recommended, I will be buying from these guys again...and again.

    DAMAGED HICKORY ORDER, 10.14.2011

Reviewer: Antonio Arcaro (Lake Worth, FL)

Several of the boards were damaged. I don't know who was responsible. The package had holes that may have been from a UPS machine. Most of the damage was in these areas. There was also some planing 'cherboard marks. I took a few pictures if you'd like me to send them along. It's too bad. The purple wood and aromatic cedar arrived in good shape. Needless to say, I was very disappointed when I opened the hickory pack and saw the damaged product.

    Near perfection, 6.16.2010

The Hickory is excellent. It arrived well packaged and undamaged. Packages were HEAVY, but I expected that with hickory. The thickness was nearly uniform at 13/16. It took only 2 passes through the planer for a smooth surface at 3/4. Good color matching and no knots or milling flaws.
