[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.
Ground Shipping is included anywhere in the 48 U.S.! (What does that mean?)
- Quantity: Project Packs contain 20 board feet (or slightly more), which tends to be approximately 4 to 7 boards depending on the size
- Thickness: 13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S)
- Widths: 4''-10'' variety with rough edges. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (see above).
- Lengths: 4'-8', and each pack contains an assortment
- Grade: Select & Better. See our page about Hardwood Grading for some details about common lumber grades and their definitions.

I was surprised to find a twisted board in my last pack of bubinga. Surprised because this is a first from WW Source. I was able to cut it into shorter pieces, so most will be useable in a project. Then, I'll be turning some bubinga pens. The rest of the order was, as usual, above average.
I hope the guys picking my 60bf of walnut today got a good night's sleep last night. :-)
WW Source is still my favorite lumber store.

Not having worked with this wood before I was very pleased with the quality of the wood. It has no knots and is blemis free on both sides. I will be able to use 100% of this product as the boards have an even and tight grain through out the entire length. It will be perfect for the project I have in mind to make,a set of Dolphins in profile.

I was quite pleased with the wood I received. I don't think I would have picked any better boards if I had been in the store myself! There was even one or two heavily figured boards included. Thanks

Not really what I expected, 5.24.2010

The wood was not what I expected. After seeing quilts of Bubinga online I expected some more character in the wood but it seems the lumber was cut so that only lesser quilted parts were shipped. That wasn't the worst thought. Since I really have not seen Bubinga lumber before I can blame it on my ignorance.
4 pieces were broken completely and were glued back together. That left a broken lines across those 4 boards. I will have to cut the lines out and join them back in astraight line.
out of those 2 of them were chipped badly making atleast 2 sq ft unusable. I will have to throw it. I don't know what you guys were thinking sending these out. What do you think i am going to to with the broken pieces. Luckily the first project only uses 7 sq feet so i am able to proceed.
Since it took 10 days to reach i was already way behind my project and had to make do with what was sent. Since I did not have the option to look at it before I was buying I knew I was taking a chance. And then the thickness is not 1 inch but around 2 cm. as a result I was sent 19 sq feet not 20 board feet.
Overall very disappointed but I guess at this point I have no option as I have to finish the project.

Woodworkers Source Responds
Broken boards? And you got some boards that were glued together? There's something wrong with that for sure. Did you contact customer service about this? If not, Craig or Jason will be in touch with you shortly. But, yes, we do clearly advertise that 4/4 lumber is not rough cut, but planed smooth to 13/16" thick.

I never bought Bubinga before, but the special last month gave me the oportunity to take a look at it. While I haven't used it yet, I can say it is beautiful wood. The boards are flat, and to my surprise, the widest is a full 13". I can't wait to get started with it, but alas, the lawn needs cutting.
