"I selected weather resistant cyprus to make a table top and two chair seats for the patio furniture's perforated metal surface construction. The material was excellently protected for shipment and well selected for straightness and lack of any warpage. Additionally, the grain in cyprus is varied and the yellow to almost golden color of the wood is beautiful when protected with only a Teak oil finish. To simplify the covering of the three round surfaces, a multiple-sided decagon geometry was chosen so that only straight edge cuts were required to create the ten sides of the polygon. The decagon geometry is based upon the mathematical "golden ratio", which seems fitting to compliment the yellow/golden hue of the cyprus wood.
