Straight line ripping service on all your lumber
Since woodworkers like to have good looking wood, we stock it all "S2S," which is short for "surfaced on two sides." The alternative to surfaced wood is rough sawn - and this is, well you know, rough and difficult to see the pattern or figure.
Plus, rough sawn material needs to be planed smooth before any other operation. And planing, as you may know, is only mildly fun compared to that other mildly fun operation: sanding. Planing is noisy and slow.
Don't just take my word for it, here's a blog posting about working with rough lumber. Notice the words "time," "patience," and "painstaking." Don't miss the end where he says, "That is all that was completed on day one."
Sound like fun to you? Not really, huh?
So, we take it upon ourselves to have all of the lumber planed before we stock it, making it easier on us and you. Nice smooth lumber with a surface you can see, and boards that are ready to be worked.
What's left, though, are the edges. Rough edges are the sort of thing you'd curl your lip at and say, "Mmm, yeah, they're pretty straight but not perfect."
We've got a remedy for this too. See the pictures to the left to show how we straight line rip any lumber you purchase for a mere fee of $0.25 per board foot.
The screen shot to the right shows how you can add the straight edging service to your lumber order. Give it a try!
