Now don't be fooled. This is called black limba not because it's totally black but because it contains black lines. It's a stunner that adds character and life to your projects. You're looking at a wood that's very lightweight, extraordinarily decorative, and pretty nice to work. And therefore leaving you almost no reason not to try this out.
Sizes you can expect:
Thickness
13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S) |
Widths
4''-10'' with the edges still rough. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (available above with your order). |
Lengths Up to 8'. Longer lengths may be available for local pick up or truck freight shipment. Contact us to verify. |

[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.
- Thickness: 13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S)
- Widths: 4''-10'' with the edges still rough. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (available above with your order).

I ordered black limba. I got black limba, but only about a 2 inch strip right along one of the edges. This section of wood could almost have been full white limba if the black section had been trimmed off. Not quite what I was expecting, I was expecting more black on it, especially because of the picture. I am using it for a guitar back, and after deciding I didn't want a skunk stripe down the middle, I now have a full white, black limba back. Don't care much about the lack of black/figure, i am more interested in tonal quality, but would have been more striking with black/figure on it. Came as one full board when delivered. I would still recommend woodworkers as a supply entity because they were very quick with shipping, and the packaging was great. I would also still recommend the black limba(korina) because it is easy to work with and very dense.

This wood has great color and pattern, and will look marvelous on any project. The reason I gave it only 3 stars was that the figured portion is only about 60% of the board running lengthwise, unlike the website photo The remainder was nearly white. This fact makes it a very expensive choice.

I got some sweet pieces from ww source for 6 different guitars. They picked out some good stuff. I use only lacquer finish on guitar bodies and the black streaks in limba look really good that way.
