Believe the name because this wood shows a consistent figure just like the spots on a leopard's coat of fur - it's all real, too. The pictures should say it all about what this wood looks like. This wood looks best with another accent wood, either lighter or darker.
Sizes you can expect:
Thickness
13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S) |
Widths
4''-8'' with the edges still rough. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (available above with your order). |

[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.

While the first piece that shipped was a nice section, it arrived damaged. I am happy to report however that customer service replaced it for me immediately! Very Happy with the way you handled it!

I would like this wood a whole lot more if I got a piece that had the leopard grain on the wood face instead of the on the ends. Is is high quality.

We have made a leopardwood bench and also used it in cutting boards without any problem matching and jointing edges. It sands smooth and takes an oil and wax finish well. I'd like to know the botanic name for leopardwood as it in not listed in my resource book.

Works well, takes a good edge. Finishes beautifully. Very interesting figure. Slightly prone to splintering/chipout. Get your boards the width that you need, edge joining doesn't always give good results because of the complexity of the figure-it's hard to match the 2 sides to get a nice flow across the joint. Nice material to work with otherwise.
