[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.

At least 90% white sapwood. Known for its durability and strength, hence it's common use for flooring, butcher blocks, and large furniture. It has excellent turning properties, a fine & even texture, and a natural luster. Somewhat difficult to work due to high surface hardness. Paints and finishes very well, though.
How's the color?
Creamy white to yellowish or pale tan.
Does it go by other names?
Hard maple, Rock maple, Sugar maple, White Maple
What could I use it for?
Furniture, flooring, cutting boards, butcher blocks, heavy furniture, industrial parts, veneer, inlay, musical instruments, work benches
What is the tree like?
Produces sweet sap used to make maple syrup. Matures at heights of 90-120 feet with a trunk 24-36''.
Where is it from?
Northeastern USA & Canada.

I made an initial order to start my project and see what kind of wood I could get from woodworkerssource.com. I gotta say that of the 2 boards I got, more than half of the 2nd one is unusable. Colors are off and there's a huge knot in the grain then a large dark discoloration going down the grain. Also there is a pretty deep hole looks like someone jabbed it with a sharp tack hammer. I'm wondering if I should chance making a bigger order or not. From the wood that is usable I think it's going to work really well for my project. The option to rip one edge helps me out a lot and the 2S finish is much nicer than getting rough stock. Overall, I'm part way satisfied. I usually hope to have minimal scrap, but maybe that only happens when you pick the stock yourself?

I needed some wood for a couple of projects and ordered ~100 board feet all together, of which this 4/4 Hard Maple was the largest fraction. They had a good sale at the time, and so I jumped on it.
Although there is Woodworker's Source in town, I am only a hobbyist and the logistics of dealing with so much lumber led me to try the online experience. In my opinion the extra cost was worth the convenience. The shipment was extremely fast (especially given the holidays), and the wood is great. The boards have relatively little cup or twist, and there are very few bad edges or spots.
This shipment will definitely last me several projects. I am very pleased with Woodworker's Source and I am sure I will be ordering again. It is nice to find a company you can trust.

I received a beautiful piece of white 4/4 maple, just how I requested it. This is on of the nicest looking pieces of plain eastern maple I have ever seen and the price was great too! This was my second order from woodworkers source and it definitely wont be the last!

I ordered this wood originally to make a cutting board. After seeing the original order I decided to order more and expand the size. All the wood was clear and beautifully straight.
The best part was the emails from Woodworkers. You need to order just to get one of their hilarious emails. Worth the money.
