We get these great little pieces from a plaque manufacturer who cuts all grain swirls or figure out of the pieces they use. You must be thinking, "What fools! The figure is the best part!" You're right, and you're in luck.
We have stacks and stacks of these small figured walnut pieces - think box tops, figured inlays, or desk clocks maybe.

Figured Black Walnut comes from
Eastern USA and Canada
Botanical Name:
Juglans nigra
Other Names:
American black walnut, American Walnut, Black Walnut, Eastern black walnut
Color:
Light to dark brown or chocolate brown.
Characteristics:
Usually steamed to match sapwood and heartwood. Fine but open grain. Moderately coarse texture. Excellent to work including turning and carving.
Typical Uses:
Gun stocks, musical instruments, fine furniture, cabinetry, flooring.

This is absolutely the prettiest walnut I've seen. Grain patterns are amazing. I've previously mitered barrel staves for my segmented bowls with this walnut to feature it's beauty

The wood is beautiful.I've orderewd these several times and the quality has just been going down. I assume that they are getting to the end of the pile.

The figured walnut was great. I use it a lot and it is sometime hard to find with out buying alot of walunt to get small section of figured wood.
