Curupay, also mis-named Patagonian Rosewood, is a wood that you'll enjoy. Though it's hard and heavy and is susceptible to planer chatter, the payoff is in the vivid brick red color and irregular black stripes. With a clear coat finish, the surface takes on a shimmer that's easy to acheive thanks to the fine texture. With age, the wood turns blood red and keeps the black stripes. Thickness: 13/16'' thick, surfaced smooth two sides (4/4 S2S) Widths: 4''-10'' with the edges still rough. Straight line ripping on one edge is available as well (see below).
