[+] What if I need specific sizes? You'll have to cut your own pieces to size. Hardwood lumber is sold as a bulk raw product, which means that our stacks of lumber have a big variety of sizes most often from 4" up to 12" wide, and 6' to 16' long.
- Only some unusual exotic woods are narrower than 4" and under 6' long. This is clearly stated when that's the case, everything else is larger.
- We always ship the longest boards possible, and rarely ship boards less than 48" long unless you request shorter. The longest we can ship by UPS is 96" (that's 8').
For general fine woodworking, the various widths and lengths meet the needs and desires of woodworkers building furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodwork. But we do understand that certain projects have some requirements, and we're happy to help you out.
Here's how we can help you get the sizes you need:
- We can hand-select material that will yeild what you need. Type your needs into the "Selection" field right above the Add to Cart button above when you place your order. 4 things to know about size requests
- We can do some custom milling or cutting. Please call or email to talk about your needs.
Ground Shipping is included anywhere in the 48 U.S.! (What does that mean?)

Botanical Name: Acer saccharum
What's the wood like?
At least 90% white sapwood. Known for its durability and strength, hence it's common use for flooring, butcher blocks, and large furniture. It has excellent turning properties, a fine & even texture, and a natural luster. Somewhat difficult to work due to high surface hardness. Paints and finishes very well, though.
How's the color?
Creamy white to yellowish or pale tan.
Does it go by other names?
Hard maple, Rock maple, Sugar maple, White Maple
What could I use it for?
Furniture, flooring, cutting boards, butcher blocks, heavy furniture, industrial parts, veneer, inlay, musical instruments, work benches
What is the tree like?
Produces sweet sap used to make maple syrup. Matures at heights of 90-120 feet with a trunk 24-36''.
Where is it from?
Northeastern USA & Canada.

I bought this product to go with some Purple Heart. Man, the two look great together! Most of my order was 12" width! Just what I needed! I didn't order that width. Not a single thing wrong with this order. Every inch of this wood was not only usuable, but beautiful.

All my prior Maple orders came in about 8' lengths. My project required that. What I received this time was boards that were less than 4 feet long. Basically just had to store them for use someday down the road and go to a local source and buy the lumber I needed to do my job.
I had been very pleased with everything prior to that (3 or 4 orders) and actually gave your info to about 4 contractors that I know as a source for quality lumber.
Not really that pleased this time. The lack of certainty about board length and the inability to specify what I need will keep me from ordering from you again in the future. Sorry about the negative feedback but I cant afford to buy lumber in the hope that I may get useful lengths to work with.

Woodworkers Source Responds
Thanks, Michael. To be clear, you can always specify lengths you need when you buy lumber (see here). However, this particular product "Craft Pack" states in the description that the lengths are between 2' and 4'. We can always accommodate your length needs as long as we know what you need.

The hard white maple I ordered was nicely grained and colored, and excellent for the project I'm working on. The specifications on the lumber I ordered were spot on, and delivery all the way to Hawaii was very fast. I am very satisfied with this order.
